OUTREACH AND GIVING
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
Not only is a solid education foundation important in our school program, but so is teaching the children to be charitable. Throughout the year the children and family participate in supporting various local and national charitable organizations as well as our military community. Each month, every child does an art activity to send to our deployed soldiers. Over the past 8 years, there have been thousands of pieces of art sent to our military men and women stationed overseas. |
October Outreach St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Trike-A-Thon. The Trike-A-Thon is our largest fundraising and educational event. Between the years of 2008-2019 our preschool has raised over $24,000 for St. Jude's! Not only are the children participating in the Trike-A-Thon for the fundraiser but the teachers also include bike and helmet safety in their lesson plans during that time. Currently on hold due to COVID restrictions.
December Outreach Giving Tree and Can Food Drive. During our annual Christmas Program, we ask for one canned food item per person as your "admission ticket" to the program. The can food drive is partnered with the church and has brought in 4,777 pounds of canned food to our local food bank. We also partner with Stoney Brook of Copperas
Cove and the Copperas Cove Nursing Home to provide residents with Christmas Gifts.
February Outreach "Paws for a Cause". We collect dog and cat food, blankets, cat litter, and dog and cat toys to donate to a local no-kill pet adoption center.
April Outreach School Supplies for Honduras. April is a very special time in our outreach. We begin collecting school supplies for St. Christopher's Church to take with them on their Honduras mission trip. Something as simple as a sheet of paper, a notebook, or a pencil are precious to the children of Honduras. In Honduras, these are treasured. When the church goes to Honduras, they carry with them the many donations of school supplies. They come back with stories of the children's faces lighting up with so much joy when they hand out pencils, scissors, crayons, pens, notebooks! Currently on hold due to COVID.
