Our Curriculum:
School and Pre-K programs:
We believe that play is the work of childhood at St. Christopher’s Episcopal School, and that young children learn best by doing, being fully engaged and having fun. Our teachers create a multi-sensory play-based hands on approach learning environment that develops the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of our students. Our curriculum is designed by our teachers to create lifelong learners. Our small class sizes and low teacher-pupil ratio allow our staff to address the individual needs of each child.
Pre-Kindergarten follows the Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines set up by Texas Education Agency or TEA. You can review the guidelines on this site https://tea.texas.gov.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade:
Our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes are child centered program with a ratio of 20 students to two state certified teachers. One of the primary goals of our Kindergarten and 1st grade are to establish a strong foundation for learning through a safe and caring environment. Through a variety of learning opportunities and a developmentally appropriate curriculum we promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each student. We follow the Texas Education Agency on curriculum standards as stated in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do.
